Mother’s Day 2020
We usually get together as a family for Mother's Day, but since we are currently living in the end of days, we couldn't gather in person this year. But that wasn't going to stop me from crafting! I saw a really cute idea on Pinterest that used kids hand prints to make lilies, and despite that fact that my sister and I are in our 30s, I suggested to her that we do this for our mom. She agreed! It was a bit of a challenge getting my sister's hand print, since she lives in a different state and everything in lockdown, but she took a photo and emailed it to me. We have very similar hand sizes, so I blew up the photo until it was about my size and then started cutting out hand prints in these really lovely springy colors. (All of the right hands are my hand prints and all of the left hands are my sisters.) The stems and stamens are made out of pipe cleaners, hot glued to the flower petals. I curled the finger-petals back around my actual fingers gently to get them to bend backward. The flowers were arranged and I braided the stems together so the bouquet would be stable, then plunked them into a kraft paper bag with a fun polka dot tissue paper wrap. Super cute, super simple to make, and super successful! Mom was very touched. Happy Mother's Day!
