Hutch
I love this piece!
It was a $25 hunk-a-junk when I bought it at a yard sale (thanks for telling me about it Mom!) and I'm so bummed I don't have a before picture. It had rooster wall paper and was water damaged and the back of the bottom cabinet was falling apart, but it was the right size for our house and it looked like a fun project to tackle!
I removed the back and replaced it with a 3/4" plywood, to make the cabinet square again and to make it sturdier. To give the whole piece a farmhouse-type charm I cladded the sides with pallet wood boards. The counter is the original boring counter covered in contact paper with a stone-like pattern. The fronts of the drawers were not salvageable (roosters, I ask you) so I replaced them with wide pallet boards. All the knobs are from Frexinet champagne bottles.
I am so excited to finally have a good place to store the china we got for our wedding! To fit all of it on one shelf I added cup hooks to the bottom of the top shelf to store the tea cups. Our kitchen is small and has limited storage space, so this is a very welcome addition to our home!
