Cheddar’s Catio

Our rescue kitty, Cheddar, is 15lbs of love. We've had him for 2 years of quiet and calm life. This February we had a new addition to the family by way of a very noisy silky-wire dachshund named Captain HAMM. To give Cheddar back a little peace and quiet, I built him his very own catio!

It's made primarily out of scraps from other projects. The only materials I had to buy were the 2x4s for the legs and the fancy, pet proof screen. We even had some peel and stick tiles left over from our mudroom makeover to cover the floor and kitty shelf and shingles left over from when our roof was redone for his own roof!

The catio is held up by some brackets that were already there holding up a flower box (that was growing nothing but weeds) and those long legs are propped up on bricks to keep them from rotting.

Cheddar is already loving it! I put a blanket on the bottom so he can snuggle up when it gets a little chilly in the evenings. I specifically chose this window to put the catio in because it's the window in my craft room. Now we can spend more time together! Love this big guy <3
