Smoked Maple Pork Flatbread

I am in love with Sugar Bob's Finest Kind's Smoked Maple Syrup! It adds a slight sweetness and a wonderful smokiness and depth to just about anything. Using a slightly modified flatbread recipe from the Ninja cookbook and using a favorite pizza topping combo from a local pizza shop as inspiration, this recipe was born!

Instructions

  1. Place the 1tsp yeast and 1 tsp sugar into a large mixing bowl. Add ¾ cup warm water, mix gently, and cover. Wait for 5 minutes to see the tell tale bubbles that means the yeast has been activated.
  2. Slowly add the flour, olive oil, and salt while mixing in a stand mixer, or by hand with a spoon, until the dough comes together.
  3. Kneed the dough for 2 minutes until the dough becomes smooth. If it’s too sticky, add 1-2 more tablespoons of flour.
  4. Place the dough into a lightly oiled bowl and cover. Let the dough rise at room temperature for 45 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, gather and prep the remaining ingredients.
  6. Prepare the pork chop with a little drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  7. Cook on a nonstick skillet over medium heat, until both sides are golden and the chop is thoroughly cooked. Remove from heat and let rest.
  8. Slice the apple into thin slices.
  9. Slice the red onion into thin slices and cut rings in half
  10. Shred the cheddar cheese (if you bought a brick, or simply open the pre-shredded cheddar bag).
  11. Mince the garlic. In a small pan, heat 1-2 Tbsp olive oil over low heat and add the minced garlic, stirring occasionally. Cook for 5-10 minutes, being careful not to let the garlic burn, to infuse the garlic into the oil.
  12. Preheat the oven to 475*F.
  13. When the dough is ready, punch down the air and gently stretch the dough into the desired shape and place on a parchment paper lined baking tray.
  14. Coat the dough with the garlic olive oil, crust and all.
  15. Top with cheddar cheese.
  16. Slice up the pork chop into relatively thin pieces and place on top of the cheese.
  17. Place an apple slice next to every piece of pork.
  18. Sprinkle the red onions on top.
  19. Drizzle 1-2 Tbsp Smoked Maple Syrup over the entire flatbread.
  20. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is good and melty.
  21. Enjoy!
