Dragonfly Days
My boss' friend who made the quilt in the Visiting Artists post completed a dragon fly wall hanging and wanted to display it in the shop window. I went looking for inspiration to incorporate the wall hanging into the display and found a beautiful dragonfly costume on instagram and the pieces just fell together!
The wings are made out of colored cellophane, pressed and sewn together, and given some structure with pieces of plastic boning.
The giant flowers are made from construction paper, fabric bolt tubes of varying heights wrapped in green crepe paper and stabilized by orange plastic cones also wrapped in crepe paper.
The "grass" is a couple of plastic table cloths, and there's a small pond made out of progressively darker blue fabric, starting out with a light blue sequin fabric and ending with a navy.
To top it all off, there are little pollen sprites made out of iridescent cellophane and hung from the ceiling.
