Thank you for being a friend

Thank-you-for-being-a-friend

For Christmas this year my friend Ara gave me something that couldn't have been more appropriately timed: Cross Stitch The Golden Girls by Haley Pierson-Cox. Buckle up kids, I'm going to go deep into this story...

First of all, you need to know that I've been listening to a TON of podcasts lately. A month or two ago I happened upon a podcast called "The Very Serious Crafts Podcast" (which is really anything but serious) and fell in love with these three ladies who instantly felt like my people. They are funny, knowledgeable, and highly entertaining to listen to. The hosts are Mollie Johanson from Wild Olive, Heidi Gustad from Hands Occupied, and none other than Haley Pierson-Cox from Red Handled Scissors, the author of the Cross Stitch The Golden Girls book! I couldn't believe my eyes! I had just listened to the episode where she reveled that she had written the book and it was incredible to have it in my hands.

Secondly, I've been thinking for months that I wanted to learn how to cross stitch, because it seemed like something that I would really enjoy, but I never got around to buying a kit. It was awesome to have a kit given to me as a gift because now I had no reason to not pursue it.

Thirdly, I LOVE The Golden Girls! I've loved them for as long as I can remember. They're sassy, strong, hilarious, and endlessly entertaining.

It kinda feels like this book was made just for me!

This is my first cross stitching project from the book and I can't wait to tackle another. I think I'll try the "Eat Dirt and Die, Trash!" pattern next... Stay tuned!
