Sewing
I have been sewing since I was about 6 years old. I graduated from college with a degree in technical theater with a concentration in costume design. I've worked as a stitcher, seamstress, and tailor. I love to sew and it's been a valuable skill to have time and time again!
Blue Elephant
This little guy was made from scrap fabric that I saved from Make it Sew Alterations that would have otherwise ended up in the trash. His stuffing is also made out of shredded scrap fabrics.
Wedding Dress Keepsakes
A woman came into Make it Sew Alterations with her wedding dress. She asked us what we could do to make some keepsakes for her two daughters. I suggested picture frames and Christmas ornaments and she loved the idea! All the fabric, lace and buttons in these pieces came off of the dress. Hand sewing…
Spectacular Halloween
Really proud of this Halloween costume! I was a ghost, and this particular photo makes it look like I was really floating in midair! I made the tulle cape, wore all white underneath (including a white tulle skirt I made) and the black stockings and shoes make my legs and feet disappear. Such a cool…
Purple Skull Tote Bag
Canvas tote bag made for Ara’s birthday. I found the swirly skull pattern online, adapted it to meet my needs, traced it onto the fabric and freestyle machine embroidered it. It’s lined with a complementing fabric and has extra long straps.
Meghann’s Wedding Dress
I altered this dress from having a zipper back to a corset back. The wedding colors were light green and burgundy and the bride, my friend Meghann, wanted both colors to be represented on her dress. This is the result!
Kitchen Cabinet Organization
Anybody else get furious when you’re looking for a food storage container lid and you can’t find the one you want, or they all come falling down and scatter across the floor? I’d had enough and decided to make this little lid caddy with strategically placed pockets to store lids of all the food storage…
Scarves, Scarves, Scarves!
I’ve been crocheting a bunch in my down time and made these scarves. I sewed some handkerchief style and infinity scarves as well. They’re on display at the Vermont Truffle Company, ready and waiting to be sold!
Snow White
For Halloween this year my friends and I did a Disney theme and I dressed as an updated Snow White! I bought the dress from ModCloth (cheating I know) and sewed some lace along the collar. I made the belt and the headband as well as a small handbag. I also made a polymer clay…
